Kristie Longhurst to Explore the Future of Checkout and Store Operations at Retail Show Australia 2026

Retail Show Australia 2026 is pleased to welcome Kristie Longhurst, Managing Director Australia & New Zealand at Diebold Nixdorf, as a featured speaker.
Kristie will join Professor Gary Mortimer for the fireside chat:
Beyond the Checkout: Designing the Future Store
Checkout is no longer limited to a single system positioned at the front of the store. It now connects payment choice, self-service, loss prevention, customer privacy, staff workload, and the level of assistance available throughout the shopping journey.
With 25 years of experience in retail technology transformation across Australia and New Zealand, Kristie has worked across point-of-sale systems, self-checkout, payments, artificial intelligence, automation, and enterprise retail platforms.
Her experience spans grocery, convenience, fuel, pharmacy, and specialty retail—sectors with very different operational requirements, customer expectations, and approaches to checkout.
The discussion will examine where automation can genuinely reduce operational workload, where customers and frontline teams still require human support, and whether new technologies are simplifying the store or simply shifting complexity elsewhere.
As retailers across Australia and New Zealand make decisions around hybrid checkout models, connected platforms, loss prevention, and responsible automation, this session will offer practical perspectives on designing store technology around people, rather than processes.
Join Retail Show Australia 2026 to hear Kristie Longhurst and Professor Gary Mortimer discuss the decisions shaping the future of checkout, store operations, and customer experience across ANZ retail.
