Retail Show Australia 2026 is pleased to welcome Elvin Tan, Founder & Creative Director of ElvinTan Design, as a featured speaker at this year’s event.

Retail as Theatre: Designing Spaces That Perform

At Retail Show Australia 2026, Elvin will present:

Retail as Theatre: Designing Spaces That Perform

As retail evolves beyond purely transactional environments, physical spaces must now perform as immersive experiences. In this session, Elvin will explore how retail environments can function as “theatre” — engaging customers through design, atmosphere and storytelling while delivering measurable commercial outcomes.

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • How retail spaces can be designed to enhance customer engagement and dwell time
  • The role of spatial layout, flow and atmosphere in influencing behaviour and sales performance
  • How storytelling, materials and lighting contribute to brand identity
  • How design can bridge experience and commercial success in modern retail environments

A Design-Led Approach to Retail Innovation

Since founding ElvinTan Design, Elvin has delivered over 500 projects and received multiple industry awards. His work focuses on creating spaces that are not only visually compelling but also commercially effective.

By combining design thinking with strategic intent, Elvin continues to redefine how physical retail spaces can attract, engage and retain customers in an increasingly competitive landscape.
