Retail Show Australia is proud to announce that Adam Posner, CEO of The Point of Loyalty, will join the speaker line-up for Retail Show Australia 2026, taking place 22–24 September 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).

With a career in customer loyalty spanning more than three decades, Adam is one of Australia and New Zealand’s most respected authorities on loyalty strategy and program design. Since beginning his loyalty journey in 1994 with the launch of the pioneering Scratch & Save shopping centre loyalty platform, Adam has remained at the forefront of how brands build meaningful, long-term customer relationships.

A Leader Redefining Loyalty Beyond Discounts

In 2007, Adam founded the direct marketing agency Directivity, before establishing The Point of Loyalty in 2017 as an independent advisory dedicated to helping organisations build high-performing, future-ready loyalty assets.

Adam is the creator of the philosophy “The new loyalty program is a Joyalty™ Program”, championing a shift away from transactional, discount-led models towards emotionally engaging loyalty experiences. Through a relentless focus on creating Joyalty™ Moments of Magic, he has designed and deployed loyalty strategies across a wide range of sectors, including retail, hospitality, hotels and holiday parks, childcare, financial services, health insurance, shopping centres, leisure and entertainment, education, trade, and B2B.

Research-Driven Insights That Shape the Industry

Since 2013, Adam has commissioned and authored 19 in-depth Australian and New Zealand loyalty research studies under the For Love or Money™ banner. This extensive body of research laid the foundation for the Loyalty Program Experience Index (SPVx™) — a member-based benchmark that rates loyalty programs on how Simple (S), Personal (P) and Valuable (V) they are to customers. Today, SPVx™ is widely regarded as a go-to framework for loyalty program evaluation and improvement.

Session Highlight:

Lifting Retail Loyalty Programs from Discount Dependency to Emotional Equity

Session title: Lifting Retail Loyalty Programs from Discount Dependency to Emotional

In this session, Adam will challenge conventional thinking around loyalty programs and demonstrate how retailers can escape the “discount trap.” Drawing on real-world case studies and proprietary research, he will explore how emotional equity, customer experience, and program design can work together to deliver sustainable growth and deeper customer advocacy.

Key themes will include:

  • Rethinking Loyalty: Why discount-led programs are no longer enough in today’s retail environment.
  • Emotional Equity: How to build loyalty programs that customers genuinely value and enjoy.
  • Joyalty™ in Action: Creating Moments of Magic that drive engagement and long-term loyalty.
  • Measurement That Matters: Using SPVx™ to benchmark, improve, and future-proof loyalty programs.

Attendees can expect practical frameworks, strategic insights, and actionable ideas to help transform loyalty programs into powerful brand assets.
